Fighting the Virus
Once it gets loose, there?s no cure for the varicella-zoster virus, but there may be ways to slow it down or limit damage during the outbreak. Medical doctors frequently prescribe an antiviral drug such as acyclovir (Zovirax) or famciclovir (Famvir) to shorten the course of the infection.
In order to hasten healing, treatment should be started within two to three days of the first appearance of the small blisters. In addition, you may be able to boost your immunity and help fight the virus with some herbs, says Dr. Warnock.
Herbalists believe that astragalus and echinacea are most effective. They work best if you take them as soon as you know you have an outbreak of the virus, says Dr. Warnock. Although you can take an herbal tincture, he recommends taking one 300-milligram capsule of standardized extract three times a day.
If you use capsules of dried echinacea root, he recommends 2,000 milligrams three times a day. Since echinacea is also safe at higher doses, you can take even more than the specified dose if you find it effective. "I?d do a high dose for a short period?just a few days. That?s when it?s most effective," he says

USUAL DOSAGE
The herbal remedies made from the Echinacea are best taken for specified lengths of time, especially when they are used to stimulate the immune system of patients. The herbal remedy can be used thrice or four times every day as soon as the first signs of a cold develop - the total treatment duration should be about ten to fourteen days at a stretch for maximum effectiveness. The herbal remedies can also be used in the prevention of colds; individuals can utilize the Echinacea tablets or the capsule form, thrice every day for a treatment period lasting six to eight weeks at a time. The longer Echinacea is used, the more reduced do its overall effects on the body tend to be, and for this reason, it is suggested that a "rest" period be resorted to during and of these long term treatment regimens - periods of rest must accompany all treatment regimens which exceed ten days at a stretch. The powdered form of the Echinacea can be taken in doses of about 900 mg whenever required. The dosage regimens for the liquid Echinacea extract are normally taken at a dosage rate of 3 - 4ml per dose, taken thrice every day of the treatment period.
PC: Do not take for more than 1 week for effectiveness. Else body "immune" to it already.

3 Tbsp. turmeric
3 cups water
Bring turmeric and water to a boil. Let it boil until it forms a thick paste. It must boil at least 8 minutes. If necessary, add more water. Once it starts to thicken slightly, you must stir it constantly to prevent scorching. Store in a glass jar (it will stain a plastic storage container) in the fridge.

The Rose
When working with energy the Rose is a very effective visualization tool. The Rose is used to identify and remove unwanted energy. The Rose is used in a variety of ways in your energy work. Visualize a Rose on your view screen, visualize that this Rose is vacuuming up all energy in the center of your head that is not for your highest good. Now visualize blowing the Rose up and releasing all of that energy back to the universe from where it came. By creating the image of a Rose and then destroying it or blowing it up, you are using a visualization tool that will assist you in moving energy out of your space. The Rose has an unlimited amount of uses. As with all thought, if you can think something, it is already created. You can create a Rose and ask it a direct question. The first answer that pops into your head is almost always right.
Below is list of several ways to
use the Rose in your energy work.
1. You can send a Rose to your 1st Chakra to vacuum up the energy of fear.2. You can send a Rose to your 2nd Chakra to vacuum up the energy of anger.3. You can send the Rose to the 3rd Chakra to vacuum up the energy of hostility.4. You can use the Rose as a gauge; you can ask the Rose on a scale of 1-10
is my first Chakra blocked with fear energy.5. You can send a Rose outside of your Aura to create a protective energy field.6. You can create a Rose to represent your day, ground it and clear all the
energy not for your highest good.7. You can ask the Rose “what is the emotion that has me blocked.”8. You can use a Rose to Break agreements that you have made on an energy level.
Stevo taught me the following technique, which he learned at the Berkeley Psychic Institute: Visualize a rose, any color you like, and imagine it swirling around your body in a spiral from the feet up. Imagine the rose is like a vacuum, and it's removing all foreign energy (energy that is not yours) from your space. As the rose moves up your body, see it getting darker and darker as it pulls the foreign energy from your space. When you get to the top of your head, the rose will be completely dark. Now, move the rose about 20 feet away from you so it's out of your space and imagine it exploding, sending all that energy back to the universe. Make sure to fill up your space with your own highest creative energy, seeing a golden sun above your head pouring energy into your body. You can use this rose technique in many different ways. For example, if you are worried about something, put an image of it inside a rose, move it out of your space and explode the rose. You are basically taking the energy of the thing you are worrying about and getting rid of it. If you are scared, angry, depressed, etc. you can use the same technique. Always remember to fill your space with your own energy. This is vitally important to keep your space clear.

'Superfoods' Everyone Needs
Experts say dozens of easy-to-find 'superfoods' can help ward off heart disease, cancer, cholesterol, and more.

Imagine a superfood -- not a drug -- powerful enough to help you lower your cholesterol, reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer, and, for an added bonus, put you in a better mood. Did we mention that there are no side effects? You'd surely stock up on a lifetime supply. Guess what? These life-altering superfoods are available right now in your local supermarket.
"The effect that diet can have on how you feel today and in the future is astounding," says nutritionist Elizabeth Somer, author of Nutrition for aHealthy Pregnancy, Food & Mood, and The Essential Guide to Vitamins and Minerals.
"Even people who are healthy can make a few tweaks and the impact will be amazing," Somer says. "I'd say that 50% to 70% of suffering could be eliminated by what people eat and how they move: heart disease, diabetes, cancer, hypertension can all be impacted."
You don't need specific foods for specific ailments. A healthy diet incorporating a variety of the following superfoods will help you maintain your weight, fight disease, and live longer. One thing they all have in common: "Every superfood is going to be a 'real' (unprocessed) food," Somer points out. "You don't find fortified potato chips in the superfood category."
Top Superfoods Offering Super Health Protection
• Beans
• Blueberries
• Broccoli
• Oats
• Oranges
• Pumpkin
• Salmon
• Soy
• Spinach
• Tea (green or black)
• Tomatoes
• Turkey
• Walnuts
• Yogurt
Blueberries -- Antioxidant Superfood
Packed with antioxidants and phytoflavinoids, these berries are also high in potassium and vitamin C, making them the top choice of doctors and nutritionists. Not only can they lower your risk of heart disease and cancer, they are also anti-inflammatory.
"Inflammation is a key driver of all chronic diseases, so blueberries have a host of benefits," says Ann Kulze, MD, of Charleston, S.C., author of Dr. Ann's 10-Step Diet, A Simple Plan for Permanent Weight Loss & Lifelong Vitality. When selecting berries, note that the darker they are, the more anti-oxidants they have. "I tell everyone to have a serving (about 1/2 cup) every day," Dr. Kulze says. "Frozen are just as good as fresh." Be sure to include lots of other fruits and vegetables in your diet as well. Remember too that, in general, the more color they have, the more antioxidants.
Omega 3-Rich Fish -- Superfoods for the Heart, Joints, and Memory
"We know that the omega 3s you get in fish lower heart disease risk, help arthritis, and may possibly help with memory loss and Alzheimer's," Somer says. "There is some evidence to show that it reduces depression as well."
Omega-3s are most prevalent in fatty, cold-water fish: Look for wild (not farmed) salmon, herring, sardines, and mackerel. Aim for two-to-three servings a week. Other forms of omega 3s are available in fortified eggs, flax seed, and walnuts. These superfoods have the added benefit of being high in monounsaturated fats, which can lower cholesterol.
Soy -- Superfood to Lower Cholesterol
A study reported in The Journal of the American Medical Association (2003) showed that a diet of soy fiber, protein from oats and barley, almonds, and margarine from plant sterols lowered cholesterol as much as statins, the most widely prescribed cholesterol medicine. "Look for tofu, soy milk, or edamame -- not soy powder," says Somer. In other words, soy sauce won't do the trick. One caveat: If you have a family history of breast cancer it is not recommended that you eat extra soy.
Fiber -- Superfood Aids Weight Loss and Checks Cholesterol
A diet high in fiber will help you maintain healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels. As a bonus, because fiber helps you feel full longer, it's a great tool in weight management. Whole grains, beans, fruit, and vegetables are all good sources. Try throwing some beans in your salad, recommends Kulze. "Fresh, frozen, or dried are the best. You can use canned, but they tend to be higher in sodium," Kulze warns.
Tea -- Superfood for Lowering Cholesterol and Inhibiting Cancer
"The overall antioxidant power of black tea is the same as green tea," says Kulze, "but green tea does have ECGC, a powerful antioxidant that we really do think is quite special." A recent Japanese study on green tea found that men who drank green tea regularly had lower cholesterol than those who didn't. Researchers in Spain and the United Kingdom have also shown that ECGC can inhibit the growth of cancer cells. For a double health whammy, replace sugary sodas with tea.
Calcium
OK, OK, you know the drill: Calcium helps build strong bones and prevents osteoporosis. Look for it in dairy products or supplements. Added bonus: Some studies show that calcium helps with weight loss. Here are the calcium levels recommended for adults by the USDA:
• Age 9 to 18 -- 1,300 mg
• Age 19 to 50 -- 1,000 mg
• Age 51 and over -- 1,200 mg
And Finally, the Yummiest Superfood Yet ... Dark Chocolate
New research has shown that dark chocolate is packed with antioxidants and can lower blood pressure. Kulze recommends that you look for chocolate with 60% or higher cocoa content; the darker, the better. In addition, the darker it is, the lower the fat and sugar content. Now that's our kind of health food!
